What to mail?

You obviously must have an idea of what your objective is. This will largely drive what your mailing pack is going to contain - however, it is now that you need to start thinking about it in a little more depth. For example, you need to consider if it is going to be hand or machine enclosed. If you are aiming for a machine enclosable pack, with all the benefits of speed of production and cost that this offers, then you will need to ensure that all of your inserts are machine enclosable.

While hand enclosing has less implications on what is enclosed, it is invariably slower and more costly than machine enclosing - also you have the possibility of human error which can never be completely irradicated.

It is possible to use a design agency to design your letter base stationery and any inserts eg donation form. However, if this is the case or you have an in-house design team, they need to be aware of what the purpose is. It is all too easy for them to design a letter and not consider that the address needs to show through a window of an envelope.

Careful consideration now will avoid costly mistakes being found out later.
